Getting to Know: Kailee Flannigan

As the People Operations Generalist II, Kailee Flannigan handles the daily functions of the HR department. These include but are not limited to, talent and acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, performance management, policy creation and enforcement, and general administration.

Before working at DQE what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I was the seventh person hired at a biotech start-up. I was the only non-scientist or engineer, and I was tasked with creating the administrative building blocks that the company still stands on today.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

Last year, I read 60 books, and this year, my goal is 65. We will see if I can reach that goal.

What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

You are either winning, or you are learning. It’s all about perspective and using every experience as an opportunity for personal and professional growth.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spending time with friends and family. Hosting dinners and having my house full of people is my happy place. 

What does true leadership mean to you?

Honesty and transparency. A true leader is always willing to have open conversations and build trust with their team.
