When a devastating house fire took the home of DQE Communications Account Executive TR Freiling last January, he and his family began working through the painstaking process of rebuilding. Now, after nearly a year of darkness, the Freiling’s new home is wired and ready to glow thanks to the diligent work of a Duquesne Light crew.
It was Christmas Eve when the Edison St. crews and service board arrived to bring electricity to the Freiling family’s new home, along with the help of Joni Coccari, Senior Technician, and Darlene Brock, General Clerk.
The Freilings noted the team was unaware they were assisting a DQE employee; they were simply doing their job, showing their dedication by giving time during the holidays, all with a positive attitude.
“They didn’t know who I was,” said Freiling. “They were just doing their job.”
“This was another key piece of the closure to the misfortune we suffered last year,” continued Freiling. “Nothing else works without power. The crews did an amazing job and I couldn’t be more appreciative of them taking time away from their holidays with family to help mine. I would especially like to thank Barb Haney and Joni Coccari for their kind-heartedness in bringing the DQE Communications and Duquesne Light families together, and to the crew for their hard work.”
